The Irineu Serra APA was created based on the request of the Vila Irineu Serra community. By signing the Municipal Decree No. 500, dated June 7, 2005 the Conservation Unit, in order to protect and safeguard the cultural traditions of the place where the Santo Daime Doctrine was born. Nowadays, the people who live in the area do not restrict themselves to the cultural and spiritual traditions that gave birth to the region, but to the cultivation of small areas, subsistence agriculture and the raising of small animals. The objective of the research was to characterize the profile of the residents of the region's residents and their understanding of the protection of APARIS and preservation of the cultural heritage of the place. The population sample for the research was composed of accessibility, making a total of 20 families distributed between Ramal Valcírio Genésio and Ramal do Tuffi. The collection instrument was a questionnaire containing closed and open questions about the knowledge and use of existing resources in the property of APA resident Raimundo Irineu Serra. From the results found, it is highlighted that the majority are female, living for more than 10 years in the region, with their partners, aged between 50 and 70 years depending on the cultivation in small areas, for subsistence and extraction of reserves that the forest of the region offers. In the branch Valcirio Gervásio, predominates the heirs of the master Irineu Serra, but do not follow the spiritual doctrine; Already at the Tuffi extension, all report that they bought the land from third parties, through purchase and sale agreement, but do not have the title of the property. With the advance of urbanization and destruction of part of the vegetation due to the invasions, the loss of cultural and spiritual knowledge that marks the emergence of the region is occurring.
