PROLEGOMENA ABOUT THE DESCRIPTIVE-THEORETICAL STATUS IN RELATION TO POSITIONAL VERBS IN TENETEHÁRA (TUPÍ-GUARANÍ)

This article aims to analyze the status of positional verbs in the Tenetehára language (Tupí-Guaraní). Descriptively, these verbs are auxiliaries occurring after the object (order VS (O) aux). So far, I have identified three positional verbs in Tenetehára: pà “lying down, to be in a horizontal position”; ‘in “sitting, being in an extended position”; and ‘am “standing”. This paper serves as the starting point for a more detailed investigation of the morphosyntactic properties of positional verbs in Tenetehára.
