Abstract

This summary has as its main objective to report the field experiences obtained through the interviews carried out during the execution of the Rio Branco Black Youth Mapping project in the months of (October, November, and December) of 2018, and which are still keeps linked as research in the PET Geography Group. The method used to conduct this research is based on the literature review, preparation, and application of socioeconomic-cultural questionnaires, discussions, and guidance with the tutor. About the main results obtained, 300 (three hundred) youth groups were interviewed during the field, where 47% declared themselves as black and 63% as brown. Coming from a family income of one to three minimum wages, with incomplete high school education residing in the main peripheries of the city. There are reports of drug use, 85% of young people have already been involved with drug and alcohol trafficking, cases of racism, prejudice and racial discrimination felt by the same young people interviewed, with almost all groups responding to the questionnaire. Therefore, 78% said they had suffered police violence, 89% of young people were unemployed, who are busy, especially with their own group activities (Sports/culture/dance). They declared themselves to be belonging to vulnerable groups, based on the lack of access to leisure, culture and living in peripheral neighborhoods. In evaluating the public health system, 90% stated dissatisfaction with SUS care and infrastructure; 85% of young people have already been involved with drug trafficking. When interviewing one of the youths, he reported having already gone through the penitentiary system, as well as his father, by Art. 157. Finally, the research has provided a great opportunity to experience and have contact with the reality of this youth. Showing above all how the absence of youth public policies and the omission of the state generate its marginalization.
