This text brings the report of field work carried out in one of the açaí extraction areas in the municipality of Atalaia do Norte, located in the extreme west of the state of Amazonas, on the border with Peru. The work aimed to conduct interviews, take photographic records and learn about the techniques and practices of açaí extraction. The text presents the research project to which the fieldwork is linked, describes the trip and, in the final considerations, makes a brief comparison with the discussions on extractivism in the Brazilian Amazon.
